Buck Breaking is popular, and we’re going to talk about it. America needs it more than ever, here’s a new segment of the Larsen Cinematic Universe: Racist Crap Theater, in which we cut down the gibbering lunatic fantasies of bigoted extremists of all colors.
Tariq Nasheed’s Buck Breaking seems about as good a place to start as anything else.
A bit of history for those not aware: Tariq Nasheed is a former pick up artist, rapper, and all of a sudden a respectable cultural commentator who produced this film about the alleged societal emasculation of black men going all the way back to an alleged practice from the antebellum slavery days where the biggest, strongest male slave would be violently gang raped by white men in order to have him learn his place. Is there any record of such a thing happening? No! But let’s watch this movie anyway.
“WHEN WE TALK ABOUT BUCK BREAKING IT IS A SHOW OF DOMINANCE.” Well, we’re thrown into the deep end right away. Almost as if the sort of person who would watch this is already a believer in buck breaking.
They then go on to discuss how masculinity in black men is demonized. Very true, but as I’ve argued myself, masculinity in ALL men is demonized. Are you going to look me in the eye and tell me that the average white man today is strong and masculine? I think not.
It sure would be nice to show the differences between snow and sun people, we get a lot of crap about the evil snow men, but we don’t hear anything about the wonderful sun people other than the implication that they’re just better and they have literal superpowers.
